Four Reasons You Should Not Always Go With the Lowest Price With Your Next Remodel

Dream home
A home addition and remodel we completed in Brandon, Florida in 2017.

Whether a new build or remodel, going high-end luxury or minimalist, budget is important to you. However, it is important to look at all the factors when deciding on the right Design-Build Contractor to create your dream home. Here are four reasons you should not always go with the lowest price.

1. A lower price may mean lower quality. Over time, low-quality work results in the need for costly repairs and may even mean calling in another professional to re-do the work. You need a professional who will make sure it’s done right the first time.Black and white kitchen with brass hardware

2. Your project may take longer than it should. Investing in a professional company with the staff, facilities and experience to keep your project moving along rapidly may end up saving you money in the long run. Jobs that run behind schedule and take months longer than they should can be very costly and quite an inconvenience.

3. It might mean more of a headache for you. Investing in a Design-Build Company that is truly turn-key, in which service is the name of the game, means that you can enjoy a relatively stress-free project. Saving money is important, but if, in the end, you’re tearing your hair out because you can’t get ahold of your Contractor, you’re unhappy with the work, you’re not comfortable with the crews in your home… in our humble opinion, it’s just not worth it.

4. You may end up paying more in the end, anyway. Be wary of Contractors who promise an unrealistically low price for your project. Unfortunately there are those who have given Contractors a bad name by giving a low price initially and then finding ways to charge you later. We’ve spoken to homeowners who ended up paying hundreds of thousands of dollars more in unexpected charges by the end of their project. You need up-front pricing at the beginning. Be sure to find out the Contractor’s policy on Change Orders, so that you can predict any changes that might occur on your project and so that you don’t receive any unexpected bills. Architectural blueprints
Our team carefully reviews every detail of your plans during the design phase to ensure we are getting the planning just right. It is during this process that we try to give you guidance on cost so you can make the right decision before we create the final blueprints.

The old adage “You get what you pay for,” certainly applies to design, remodel and construction. When selecting the right Contractor for your project, be sure to consider all aspects rather than just the one with the lowest price. It is, after all, your home – the place you should be happiest and most comfortable.  We want you to not only enjoy your project, but to love your home for years after it’s done.
